Using the Three-Phase Educational Model, Northwest Lineman College (NLC) focuses education around three domains of learning: Knowledge, Skill and Behavior. Each academic course, skill competency, and behavior expectation is shaped by this model.

Learn how to construct, maintain, and operate the nation's 5G, data, WIFI, radio, cable, and telecommunications networks.

Learn how to build and repair fiber optic, coax, and copper cable lines and equipment.

Learn how to work in elevated positions, using the industry's most up-to-date safety equipment.

Learn how to operate bucket trucks and digger derrick trucks.

Learn how to identify career options and interview confidently.

TLP GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

TLP GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
- 70% or higher in each academic class
- All field competencies and certifications
- Successful scores in behavioral competencies
- Maintain attendance as outlined in the catalog
- Meet Commercial Driver Learner’s Permit Requirements

Training Environment

NLC promotes a positive learning environment where students are challenged, encouraged, and held accountable. Students are placed in crews where teamwork is emphasized daily.

Class Day
Students attend class and field training in equal parts each day, Monday through Thursday. Fridays are reserved for preparation and study.

Class Size
Class sizes are limited to maximize student safety, productivity, and camaraderie.

Tools of the Trade
Students are required to purchase specific climbing and hand tools on campus. Instructors will provide a personal fitting for you. After graduation, you will continue to use these tools every day on the job.

Admissions Qualifications
- Be at least 18 years of age by the start date of the term you select
- Have a high school diploma or GED
- Possess a valid driver’s license (that does not expire prior to term start)
- Be eligible to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (Electrical and Telecommunications Programs Only)
- Be physically and mentally fit to participate (official Medical Release form provided during enrollment process)
- Provide proof of medical insurance coverage for the duration of the program
- Not have a felony conviction on your record
- Weigh no more than 270 pounds (Electrical and Telecommunications Programs Only)
